Your budget data
The income, expenses, amounts, dates, categories, members, notes, budgets, recurring items and reimbursements you enter are stored in the app’s local database. They are used to display and calculate your budget. Language, currency, theme and reminder preferences are also kept on your device.
The app does not require a user account and does not sync your budget to a developer-operated server. The developer does not receive your financial history. No amounts, labels, categories, notes, members or budget history are added to advertising requests.
Optional location and currency
With your Android permission, the app can use your approximate location in the foreground to determine your country and suggest a currency, during setup or a later country check. You can deny or revoke this permission and choose your currency manually.
Coordinates are used temporarily and sent to Android’s geocoding service, which may contact its provider over the Internet. The provider depends on your device and processes the request under its own policy. The app does not retain coordinates; it stores the detected country code and selected currency. It does not track location in the background or add these coordinates to advertising requests.
Backups you choose
You can export and import a JSON backup using Android’s file picker. The file contains your budget data and some settings. The app does not encrypt this file: protect it and choose its destination carefully.
If you select an online storage service, that service receives the file at your request and applies its own policy. Restoring a backup replaces the database contents after confirmation. Android automatic backup and automatic device-to-device transfer are disabled in the app configuration.
Advertising and Google services
MyBudget uses Google AdMob to show banner and app-open ads, and Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to manage advertising privacy choices.
The advertising SDK collects and shares technical data with Google, including IP address (which can indicate an approximate area), app or ad interactions, diagnostics and device or account identifiers, including the advertising ID when available. These data are used to deliver and measure ads, analyse their performance and prevent fraud. Processing varies with your choices, device settings and advertising configuration.
UMP processes the information needed to present and record your consent choices. These activities are separate from your locally stored budget data. The Google links below explain its practices, retention and possible processing in other countries.
Your permissions and choices
When a consent form is required, UMP displays it in the app. You can revisit the choices offered through the advertising privacy option in Settings when available. Declining personalisation does not necessarily stop all technical data processing for permitted ads.
You can manage or delete your advertising ID in Android settings, depending on your system version. You can also disable location and notifications there. Reminders are optional, generated locally, and their public lock-screen version remains generic.
Retention and deletion
Local data remain on your device for as long as you keep them. To remove all local app data, clear the app’s storage in Android settings or uninstall it. Exported files are not deleted automatically: remove them separately, including copies held by a storage provider.
The developer cannot access, recover or remotely erase your local database. Google and the providers you use manage their own retention periods and deletion options, described in their policies.
Data protection
The database and preferences are stored in the app’s private space, protected by Android access controls. The app blocks cleartext HTTP traffic and the advertising SDK uses encrypted connections in transit. This does not add encryption to exported backups or guarantee absolute security. Protect access to your device and files.
Contact and privacy requests
